About
Barry O Riordan, a native of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, studied Art for Leaving Certificate and continued his interest in Art whilst in Teacher Training College under the influence of Limerick Artist, Walter Verling. He started teaching in Adare, Co Limerick in 1976 and the opportunity to teach Junior Certificate Art for a number of years was a great joy to him.
In the 90's he developed an interest in signwriting in the old traditional style. While always interested in painting it was in 2006 that he started concentrating on Landscapes and Equestrian scenes under the influence of Paul Quane at the Raheen Studio. Barry's interest in horses and the hours spent working with these majestic animals has influenced many of his paintings. A love of sport in Adare and its golf courses has also had a big impact on his paintings.
Being lucky to live in the beautiful village of Adare with its many influential local scenes is both a joy and inspiration to any artist. Currently influenced by artist Roger McCarthy at Gallery 75 Limerick, Barry is enjoying and developing his artistic knowledge and to date all his work is in oils.
